Taqueria Ay Caramba
About This Spot
Stepping into Taqueria Ay Caramba feels like discovering a vibrant little corner of Mexico right off Columbus Pike in Delaware. There’s a lively but unhurried rhythm here, the kind that invites you to settle in comfortably whether you’re dining with family or grabbing a quick bite through the drive-thru. The space strikes a balance between cozy and bright, with warm colors and a bustle that speaks to genuine community rather than just busy service.
Behind the counter, the kitchen hums with purpose, turning out dishes that capture the heart of traditional Mexican cooking without pretense. It’s easy to get lost in the layered flavors—a rich mole, the tender embrace of slow-cooked meats, and fresh tortillas that wrap up so much care and authenticity. From street-style tacos that arrive piled with vivid, fragrant toppings to inventive offerings like birria pizza with a side of dipping sauce, there’s a sense of playful respect for tradition here.
The atmosphere draws a mosaic of guests: families who have made this their weekly haven, road trippers stopping by for a satisfying meal, and locals who appreciate attentive, friendly service paired with a menu that feels both comforting and fresh. Whether you’re coaxed in by the scent of chile and garlic or the warmth from a freshly poured horchata, the experience lingers—a mix of good food, familiar faces, and small moments that feel quietly joyful.
It’s one of those places where the atmosphere and the food fold together, making each visit feel like a modest celebration. A plate might arrive with rice and a side of choriqueso or the inviting sizzle of chicken fajitas, and you’ll find yourself savoring not just the flavors but the ease and genuine care that accompanies every bite. The staff’s welcoming smile and the hum of conversations paint a scene that’s as welcoming as the food.

Me and my family eat here every week. It’s always amazing, the food comes out fast, the service is impeccable, the ambiance is excellent. I recommend the sopes, the menudo, and the mojitos!

We were coming home from Columbus and we discovered this gem by accident. What a great find! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant dining room is cozy, charming and clean. The service was friendly and efficient. We had enchiladas and chimichangas and we cleaned our plates. Highly recommend, I will definitely go back! They also have a drive thru.

Great restaurant and love the drive-thru option. The staff is very accommodating and they serve delicious, fresh food. I typically get the chicken fajitas or polla à la Diablo. My wife usually gets the birria tacos. The sopas are wonderful too and you can add one or two to a meal for something a little different to try.

Food was great! Had the street tacos, the quesadilla plate, crazy fries, pollo el la deablo and tortas, all were amazing! Will definitely be coming back! Drive through can take a small bit of time if you have a bigger order but not to long at all. Update* two years later and the food is still great! One of my favorite places in Delaware! And staff is always amazing!

Absolutely amazing food! The staff are very sweet/genuine and welcoming and the atmosphere is very fun! It was very busy and we were sat immediately. We got the Chori rolls with chipotle sauce as an appetizer (as pictured! We almost forgot to take a photo, it was so good!) — Phenomenal!! The guacamole was fresh and delicious. I ordered the burrito with chicken and my friend ordered the torte! Everything came out hot and played beautifully. 100/10 our new favorite Mexican spot in Delaware. We want to come back soon for mojitos and margs!!

Picked this restaurant based on Google maps rating. We were seated when we walked in. The server was at our table within seconds and told us about specials. The food was served in a timely manner, and as with most Mexican restaurants, the food was served hot. We enjoyed the food so much that we split a dessert. We highly recommend it if, in the area

Great overall spot for tasty Mexican food. This is my first choice in Delaware. The food is always good, the service is always great, and it has an upbeat but cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for excellent Mexican food, and to top it all off they also have a drive thru.
